Take away book shop

Take Away Book Shop – voucher program – Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service (AWAHS)

Foundation donation $860.00

Proposed by the AWAHS speech pathologist – one role is to promote children’s engagement with books and quality literacy times from an early age. The take away book shop is set up in the waiting room at AWAHS and provides opportunities to promote the importance of sharing and reading books in the home.  It provides families access to free 2nd hand books and information about early literacy development.  The use of vouchers as prizes and incentives will add interest to the project as well as an opportunity to buy some new books.  Grant to buy $500 of Australian booksellers Association (ABA) vouchers which can be redeemed at a local bookshop.  The ABA are supporters of the indigenous literacy foundation.
